"Straddling the junction of two great continents, Turkey is a fascinating blend of East and West. Its many ancient sites attest to its location as the cradle of western civilisation – the Roman ruins above Antalya; the beachside villas and necropolis of Olympia; the dramatic clifftop vistas from the temples of Pergamum; and the wonderous Ephesus are just some of its finest and most breath-taking. But wander the souks in Istanbul or hear the call to prayer reverberate across the sky at dusk – whether on the streets of Istanbul or after a day on the beach on the picture-perfect Turquoise Coast – and the vibe is unmistakably eastern. A dreamy combination of beach and history with all the sunshine you could wish for."

The best time to visit Turkey depends on what you’re interested in. April, May, September and October are pleasantly warm, with temperatures of 21°C to 26°C, so are the best times to visit Turkey’s grand array of ancient sites. The summer months (June through to September) are very hot, with temperatures reaching the mid-thirties on the south coast. This is perfect for lounging by the sea or a pool, although visiting the sites can be quite uncomfortable.
