This couples-only resort sits on Antigua’s most renowned beach, Dickenson Bay. Its sweep of sugary soft white sand is the longest beach on the island – and one of the most beautiful. Swaying palm trees fringe the shore and the lucent turquoise waters lap gently up the sand. Little wonder Sandals Grande Antigua has won the title of "World's Most Romantic Resort" year after year. Hammocks sway lazily between shady palms in the resort’s Caribbean Grove, where there is a distinctive Creole flavour to the rooms and villas. Or choose the Mediterranean village for a European-inspired feel in the shops, Italian restaurant, wood-fired pizza parlour, French pastry cafe and a British pub. Both garden and beachfront villas have their own private plunge pools and there are a further six pools around the resort, as well as flood-lit tennis courts, volleyball, fitness centre, spa and a wide range of water sports, including scuba diving under the guidance of the resort’s PADI-certified dive professionals.
